Race Programme 2025

Classes Available

Cruiser Classes

There will be four Cruiser classes, with ratings based on the local handicap system

Cruiser Class 4 Asymmetric & Code 0 cruisers of all sizes are welcome to enter this class.  Please note this class is included in order to provide a dedicated class for the newer style cruisers that are not equipped with symmetrical spinnakers.  It is intended as a Cruiser class rather than an out and out racer class.

Classes 5 & 6 Unrestricted cruiser class with spinnakers. You can enter in the slightly more relaxed RTYC Cruiser division where a simple rating will be allocated to your boat by the Royal Temple Yacht Club. Note that for this option you will need to provide us with measurement details for your boat.

Class 7 Slow cruiser class without spinnakers. This is intended for the less serious racer with non-high tech sails and the use of spinnakers is prohibited. Boats competing in this Class may sail a shorter course than Classes 5 & 6 and will be issued an RTYC Handicap TCF figure by the Royal Temple Yacht Club. Note that for this option you will need to provide us with measurement details for your boat.

Classic Classes

To cater for a classic class entry with ratings based on the NHC handicap system, Class 8 will be used if there are 2 or more entries for this class.

Class 8 Classic Class. This is a class for all yachts over 24ft length on deck, built of wood or steel before 1975 or in GRP before 1965. A division for Spirit of Tradition yachts may be allocated for boats built after the above dates to designs that reflect the appearance and virtues of classic yachts.

IRC Classes

There will be two IRC classes and the "Rating Bands" for all IRC Classes will be notified to each competitor by an amendment to the Sailing Instructions and will be displayed on the Club's website prior to the first race.

Class 1 IRC handicap >0.999

Class 2 IRC handicap <1000

One Design, 2 Handed Classes with 3 or more entries may have their own start or will have results extracted from their relevant IRC class to form a Class.

We reserve the option to amend the class break once we have a full list of entries in the IRC classes.
